Overture Opus One Red Wine

Originally a collaboration between the two titans Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild, Opus One is a flagship American wine – one of California’s First Growths if you will. The majority is bought in the US and Asia where it enjoys a fanatical cult following, leaving precious little for the UK market. Harvey Nichols is therefore excited to be able to offer their second wine Overture. Made since 1993, Overture has only recently become commercially available. The fruit comes from the same vineyards used to make Opus One, farmed with a relentless pursuit of perfection. And it’s quite literally a timeless expression of Napa Valley. A blend of different vintages with extended barrel ageing, it’s consistently wonderful and super elegant; displaying blackberry, cassis, raspberry, cherry, violet, cocoa, iron filings, black olive and smoked pepper. Packed with Californian sunshine and exuberance, but there’s an unmistakable French finesse to it. Overture is a classic Bordeaux blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with a little Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec.
