Twenty years of friendship, forty cigars, one humidor. This is cigar history in a box.

Every serious collection has a centerpiece. For cigar people, this is it. La Union is the once-in-a-generation collaboration between My Father Cigars and Tatuaje, and almost nobody will ever own one.

The backstory reads like a movie. In 2003, Jose ‘Pepin’ Garcia opened his first factory in Miami’s Calle Ocho. A young Pete Johnson walked in and became Garcia’s very first private-label client. Tatuaje was born in that room.

Twenty years later, that handshake had produced some of the most acclaimed cigars in the world. Multiple spots on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 lists prove it. La Union, the union, is how the two families chose to celebrate. Not with a press release. With a humidor.

Inside are forty cigars, twenty from each master. Johnson blended one, Garcia blended the other, and both were rolled at My Father Cigars in Esteli. You smoke them side by side and taste twenty years of shared obsession.

The vitola exists nowhere else on earth. The Prominente Especial, a commanding 7 1/4 x 50 with a 109-style tapered head, was created exclusively for this project. Johnson’s cigars wear a covered foot, Garcia’s an open foot, so you always know whose hand you are shaking.

It came in two editions, Black and Red. The Black pairs Johnson’s shade-grown Nicaraguan Corojo ’99 with Garcia’s Ecuador Habano. The Red pairs Johnson’s Ecuador Sumatra with Garcia’s Connecticut Broadleaf. Each edition was limited to 1,500 humidors worldwide, with only 1,200 allocated to the United States.

Read that number again. For a collaboration between two of the most collected names in cigars, 1,500 is nothing. These will never be made again. The humidors themselves are display pieces built to outlive the cigars, each with a XIKAR Xi1 cutter included.

One more detail we take personally. The Garcia family’s Miami headquarters, where their most limited cigars are rolled, is on our street. We are their neighbors, and we sell a serious volume of their cigars. We do not stock many items we would rather keep for ourselves. This is one.

Presentation matters at this level, and this one arrives finished. The heavyweight box, the fitted interior, the paired blends laid out like a chessboard. Nobody wraps a gift like this. You simply place it in front of them and watch the room change.

For corporate gifting at the very top, nothing else signals like it. One recipient, one box, one unforgettable gesture. Renewal season takes care of itself.

As a gift, it has exactly one job: to end the conversation. The retirement after a legendary career. The father of the groom. The partner whose name went on the building. The collector who thought they had everything, right up until this arrived.

Forty cigars. Two masters. One friendship, sealed in Spanish cedar. When the moment is history-making, send the box that already is.
